School Time Garden Valley!

The 2020-2021 school year is underway for the Garden Valley School District, and excitement abounds for children and adults alike! Small schools and close-knit communities are often high on the list of priorities when it comes to our clients who are raising children or plan to start a family. For those who live here it is easy to understand why we love our school, but we are always glad to share a few of our reasons!

Simplicity. In Garden Valley, grades K-12 are in one school building. We love this about our school because after school activities, school drop off lines, sports, and parent-teacher conferences are all in one place. No running around from one side of a city to the other because one child goes to grade school on 2nd Street and the other goes to a middle school on 27th Street.

Community. Our school values community within the school. Older children are given the opportunity to mentor younger children, often helping with class projects, or sharing reading time. Respect and kindness toward one another are emphasized, and the school strives to encourage good character among the student body.

Opportunity. Garden Valley School offers small class sizes, club sports for elementary aged students, athletics for middle and high school students, advanced classes for students that wish to challenge themselves academically, and extracurricular clubs as well. The youth of our community have many opportunities to participate in activities.

Care. The staff, teachers, and administration care deeply about the families they serve. Teachers often wear many hats in our school. Some serve as club leaders and others are sports coaches. The teachers at Garden Valley school work long hours making sure the children of this community have the best that this community can offer!

Garden Valley School District is also home to a one-room schoolhouse, which is 23 miles away in the small town of Lowman. This small schoolhouse is home to students K-5 and offers a unique setting for students to learn and grow. If you would like to learn more about our school and our community the agents at Garden Valley Properties are happy to help!

Small Town Social Media

One of the great things about living in Garden Valley is our sense of community. If you’re ever in need of help, you can bet someone will be there to lend a hand. Our great community of Garden Valley rallies together to help our neighbors in time of need. Whether you are new to the area and have questions about mountain life or you have been here for generations and your dog wandered off… we are all here to help each other!

Nowadays, social media makes it easy to stay informed... If something around town happens, you know about it. Garden Valley has several group pages where locals constantly post events, lost pets, and items for sale. If a fire breaks out or an accident happens, you only have to wait a matter of seconds for someone to fill in the gaps and update the community. We take care of each other.

Below are some pages that are beneficial to follow on Facebook.

***Just go to your search bar on Facebook, type in the title of the pages (in bold) below and click on “Join.”**

Boise County Lost or found Animals- If you come across a dog that you believe is lost, it is best to post a picture or description on this page first. You generally get an answer pretty quickly on who the dog belongs to. Some mountain dogs like to roam and know their way back home.. so before ever taking any of them to the humane society, check in with the locals.

Garden Valley Idaho Happenings – This page is a general information page where any user can post. From local events to news around town, this page has a little bit of everything.

GVidaho- this is another general information page which is mainly updated solely by the page owner.

Garden Valley Buy, Sell, Trade or Free- If you are wanting to sell anything or give away something for free in order to save a trip to Payette Forward or Granny’s closet, you can post on here.

Garden Valley Idaho Local Road Reports- If there is an accident or a bad storm, locals will give each other updates on driving conditions. (Small town hint: Locals know to avoid the intersection of HWY 55 and HWY 17 on Sundays in the summer)

Garden Valley Chamber of Commerce- GV Chamber posts some of the most beautiful pictures of our town and is a great informational page to follow.

Boise County Emergency Management- Great page to follow to get important updates about anything pertaining to safety. If there is a fire, this page does a great job at giving updates.

Boise County Sheriff’s Office-   Our Sheriff’s office covers a lot of surface area and if there is anything that they want to inform the residents about, they are very good about releasing statements to their page.

Garden Valley Properties- We are all locals and strive to not only be great Real Estate Agents, but also great neighbors. Feel free to send us a message on our page or stop by our office if you need any help. We love to keep business local and we have many contacts to help you.
